Visitor Policy

Trinity Health Of New England’s visitation guidance is determined by the prevalence of COVID-19 within the health ministry and within our communities. The following requirements are in place for the protection of our patients and colleagues, and following guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

We recognize that the care and support of loved ones is important. Please know that the safety of our patients and colleagues is of the utmost importance. With proper authorization in place, we commit to communicating with family and friends as frequently as possible.

Visitation Policy

The following information applies to inpatient units at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Mercy Medical Center***, Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, Saint Francis Hospital*, and Saint Mary’s Hospital.

Visiting Hours:

  • 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm | 7 days per week
  • 8:00 am - 8:00 pm | Saint Francis Hospital and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital

Visitor Policy:

  • 2 adult visitors per patient, at a time on inpatient units.
    • Compassionate care exceptions may be granted.
  • 2 adult visitors for patients in the Emergency Department.
    • Visitors in the waiting room may be limited further or not allowed during times of high capacity.
  • 1 adult visitor for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
    • Visitors are allowed to remain in waiting area but must adhere to infection prevention precautions, including wearing a mask.
  • 1 adult only (18 years or older) visitor allowed for patients testing positive for COVID-19 or persons under investigation (PUI)** patients except as outlined in compassionate care circumstances.
    • Infection prevention precautions, including wearing a facemask, must be adhered.
  • Visitors are never restricted based upon race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability.
  • Do not visit if you have any symptoms of a cold, the flu, or COVID-19.

Masking Policy:

Masking is strongly recommended for visitors and patients in all our locations (all inpatient units, emergency departments (ED), and ambulatory care areas) with the exceptions outlined below, and with the understanding that Infection Prevention and Occupational Health will continue to monitor the clinical impact of COVID-19 to our patients and colleagues and will have the ability to reinstate mandatory masking if needed.

Exceptions

Individuals REQUIRING masks:

  • Those who have had close contact exposure (patients and visitors) or a higher-risk exposure (colleagues) with someone with COVID-19 infection, for 10 days after their exposure.
  • Reside or work on a unit or area of the ministry experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak. Universal use of source control as a mitigation measure could be discontinued in units with an outbreak once no new cases have been identified for 14 days.
  • Those who have not been vaccinated for flu during this flu season, until flu season is declared over.

*Children are not permitted as visitors at this time. Pending approval of the unit’s nurse manager individuals ages 15-17 may visit as the single visitor per day with parental accompaniment only. Children may not be left in any area of the hospital without parental supervision.

**For Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, please call ahead (860.748.9480) regarding visitation of patients testing positive or persons under investigation for COVID-19.

***Minors must be accompanied by an Adult (18+)/ Los menores deben estar acompañados por un Adulto (18+).
