Blood Disorders
Services vary by Cancer Care locations.Blood disorders affect the way your body produces and uses blood. Trinity Health Of New England is one of the few programs in Connecticut with an expert team specializing in these issues. We treat a broad range of conditions, including bleeding disorders and abnormal blood counts, so you can get back to your busy life.
Providers Who Specialize In Treating Blood Disorders
Some people worry about what seeing a cancer specialist may mean about their health. You receive care from a team of experts who specialize in the treatment of both blood disorders and cancer.
But you can breathe a little easier knowing that many blood disorders are noncancerous. One of the reasons our cancer providers treat blood disorders is that they often involve similar treatments. Chemotherapy uses different types of drugs to destroy abnormal cells, both cancerous and noncancerous.
Blood Disorder Treatment: Why Choose Trinity Health Of New England?
Our hematologist-oncologists have special training in preventing, diagnosing and treating blood disorders. All of them are board certified in hematology meaning they passed rigorous exams demonstrating their expertise.
Highlights of our program include:
- Personalized treatment plan: We treat a high volume of common and complex blood disorders enabling us to tailor therapies for excellent results. Your care plan reflects your diagnosis, family history and other medical conditions. And if your needs change, we adjust treatments to help you continue feeling your best.
- Focus on prevention: We deliver timely care that lowers your risk of complications. We use medications and other substances to decrease unnecessary blood loss in people with bleeding disorders.
Comfortable treatment facilities: We use infusions, a method for delivering fluids, medications and blood products through a vein in your arm, to treat many blood disorders. Some of our infusion centers have been recently renovated with heated treatment chairs and space for loved ones to stay with you.
