Fellowship Opportunities

Saint Mary’s Hospital has no plans at this time to sponsor fellowship programs. However, Saint Mary’s Hospital is closely affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine. Through research, electives, and mandatory block rotations at Yale University, Saint Mary’s Hospital residents have the opportunity to interact closely with full-time Yale faculty regularly and learn more about the opportunities available at Yale and other local institutions. In addition, residents have the opportunity to participate in “away electives” with advance planning and permission of the program directorship. Former residents from Saint Mary’s Hospital Program have seen great success in matching into subspecialty and general internal medicine fellowships and in establishing fruitful and prominent academic careers.

Our grads have matched in many fellowship specialties including: Cardiology, Gastro, Pulmonary, Critical Care, Geriatrics, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Hem/Onc and Endocrinology.

Ambulatory

The ambulatory experience here at Saint Mary’s Hospital is comprehensive and diverse. The ambulatory rotations for the interns are divided into two-week blocks and occur every six weeks throughout the academic year. This schedule obviates the need to go to clinic during the wards and ICU blocks allowing the interns and residents to focus on their inpatient duties.

Other Educational Activities

Our robust education curriculum includes additional learning activities such as resident report, intern report, journal club, morbidity and mortality conference, MKSAP board review, evidence based medicine, ACLS simulation and Point of Care Ultrasound.
