Clerkship Program for prospective residents
Saint Francis Hospital offers a dynamic, month-long podiatry clerkship that provides students with an immersive and hands-on experience in both clinical and surgical settings. From day one, students are integrated into the team, working closely with residents and attendings and gaining a true sense of the program’s culture and training environment.
Students actively participate in patient care at the Gengras Podiatry Clinic and the Wound Care Center, where they are exposed to a diverse range of pathology and management strategies. The clerkship also offers a well-rounded educational experience, with full involvement in the program’s academic curriculum, including board and case reviews, journal club, and monthly conferences,
Time is also spent in the operating room and on inpatient services, allowing students to observe and assist in surgical procedures while developing an understanding of perioperative management. This balance of clinic, surgery, and academics gives students a comprehensive view of podiatric residency training and prepares them for the expectations of the next level.
Beyond the clinical experience, the rotation offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with residents and faculty, making it an excellent way to explore fit, develop mentorship, and experience firsthand what makes training at Saint Francis unique.
