Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency

Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency

Welcome:

Located in the capital of Connecticut, our three-year foot and ankle surgery residency offers a dynamic and comprehensive training experience. From routine wound care and amputations to complex reconstructive procedures and external fixation, residents gain exposure to the full spectrum of podiatric medicine and surgery. The program is fully accredited as a Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle credential (PMSR/RRA).

Our program is highly regarded for its well-rounded training, which integrates surgery, inpatient care, podiatry clinic, and wound care clinic into a cohesive experience. Residents benefit from a high surgical volume with excellent case variety, as well as a hands-on approach to learning. With over 35 dedicated attendings, many of whom are fellowship-trained and affiliated with orthopedic groups, residents are exposed to a wide range of surgical techniques and clinical perspectives.

Graduates leave the program as confident, well-trained podiatric surgeons prepared to enter a variety of practice settings, including private practice and hospital-based roles. In addition, our state-of-the-art wound care center allows residents to pursue wound care certification upon graduation, further expanding their clinical expertise.

Beyond clinical training, residents enjoy everything the area has to offer. Whether it’s grabbing a bite at Parkville Market, kayaking along the Connecticut River, exploring nearby hiking trails, visiting local microbreweries, or spending time at one of the region’s casinos, there’s no shortage of ways to unwind. New England’s seasons add to the experience, from vibrant fall foliage to snowy winters and lively springs and summers. For a quick getaway, both New York City and Boston are just about 90 minutes away. Residents also take advantage of social events, group outings, and intramural sports, helping to build a strong sense of community within the program.
