Team Based Care

Family Medicine believes in the importance of the doctor/patient relationship. To maintain that bond, our doctors, nurses, and health care providers work in Teams. Each patient or family has one primary doctor, and every attempt is made to schedule visits with that doctor. But, if you are ill and need an urgent visit, you may be given an appointment with a member of your team. Team members communicate with each other about patient care issues, thus ensuring optimal continuity of care for you. Our teams are identified as the Purple, Green or Gold team—ask your nurse what team you are on!

Because hospital services are sometimes required, we have a team of doctors who care for you in you need to be admitted Saint Francis Hospital. These are the same doctors who care for you in our office.


Behavioral Health Services

Our behavioral health services include mental health screening, diagnostic assessment, treatment for a range of mental health conditions and case management services for children, adolescents and adults. Our team works together with our physicians and nursing staff to provide a holistic plan of care that address the mind, the body and the spirit of each client.

We can help with a variety of issues. Whether you are struggling with the emotional impact of living with a chronic medical condition, adapting to a new medical diagnosis, experiencing problems with depression, anxiety or another mental health condition, suffering from the loss of a loved one, or recovering from trauma, we are here to support you and help you through every step.


Women's Health Services

Only Family Medicine providers are skilled to provide comprehensive care for a woman, her partner and her children all in one office. We not only provide routine gynecologic care but we take a family-centered approach to prenatal care and birthing, focusing on this joy-filled stage in the development of a family. We deliver our patients at St. Francis Hospital which also offers special programs for first time mothers, a variety of classes for parents and siblings and accommodations for traditional and alternative delivery methods.


Procedural Treatments

We are pleased to offer a range of minor surgical and medical procedures in our office to our patients. In office surgical procedures include the excision of skin lesions such as moles and skin tags, as well as the removal of ingrown toenails. We also perform gynecological procedures in the office such as the insertion and removal of intrauterine devices (IUD) and colposcopy and endometrial biopsies for cervical and uterine cancer screening. For orthopedic problems we perform a range of injections.


Osteopathic Manipulation Treatment

Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) Family Medicine physicians are skilled to provide osteopathic manipulation treatment (OMT). We have faculty and residents who are Doctors of Osteopathy at our office who provide OMT to our patients. OMT is a hands-on therapy that helps improve blood flow, lymphatic flow and decrease muscle tension and pain. The overall goal of OMT is to create balance within the muscular, nervous, lymphatic and fascia systems so the body can help itself in the healing process. OMT augments treatment of many common medical conditions such as eustachian tube dysfunction, sinus pressure, TMJ, anxiety, constipation, neck pain, headaches, back pain, fibromyalgia, asthma and more.


Sports Medicine

Our sports medicine fellows provide care in the subspecialty of sports medicine. They have expertise in concussions, other sports-related injuries as well as ongoing sports-related problems and have the capability of using modalities such as ultrasound to help them with their assessments. When appropriate, they are able to performs injections to help relieve pain and improve function. The sports medicine team provides side-line medical care at football games at Hartford High Schools as well as other services to teams in Connecticut including teams at the University of Connecticut.
