Stereotaxis
Trinity Health Of New England is the only health care system in the region with the Stereotaxis sytem which allows us to perform robotically assisted catheter ablation procedures with unprecedented accuracy and safety. Because of its pinpoint precision and greater safety, Stereotaxis magnetic navigation is ideal for performing catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, atrial tachycardia, and atrial flutter.
Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation
We have been pioneers in performing atrial fibrillation ablations. Trinity Health Of New England offers cryoablation for pulmonary vein isolation as well as performing the Convergent procedure for patients with difficult to treat atrial fibrillation. This procedure combines cryoablation with surgical ablation of the posterior wall of the left atrium and has been shown to improve outcomes in the most difficult cases of atrial fibrillation.

Reducing X-Ray Exposure
Using advanced 3D mapping techniques, we can significantly reduce the X-ray exposure to patients and our providers. Trinity Health Of New England is one of the only health care systems in the region performing complex ablations (including ablations for atrial fibrillation) without the use of fluoroscopy. This means patients have absolutely no exposure to harmful radiation during their ablation procedures.
Left Atrial Appendage Closure
We offer the Watchman procedure to prevent strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation who cannot tolerate anticoagulants. Watchman is a one-time, minimally invasive procedure for people with atrial fibrillation not caused by a heart valve problem (also known as non-valvuar AFib) who need an alternative to blood thinners. The Watchman device fits right into your left atrial appendage and is designed to permanently close it off and keep those blood clots from escaping.
Therapeutic EP Procedures
We have extensive experience with cardiac ablations for many different heart rhythm disorders including SVT, WPW, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. We have access to the most advanced technology including state of the art three dimensional cardiac mapping systems and intracardiac ultrasound imaging.
Trinity Health Of New England's atrial fibrillation ablation program is one of our safest and most successful programs. Our providers perform pulmonary vein ablations as well as FIRM mapping, allowing us to map and ablate rotors in the heart during atrial fibrillation.
Cardiac Implanted Devices
There are several types of cardiac implanted devices, but they can be broadly divided into two categories: pacemakers and defibrillators. Pacemakers are used to keep the heart from going too slowly. Defibrillators are used to protect against sudden death from a cardiac arrest (ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia). Defibrillators (also known as ICDs) also have pacemakers built in. Some ICDs and pacemakers have special pacemaker systems used to help a weak heart beat more effectively. These pacemakers and defibrillators are called biventricular devices.
We have extensive experience in prescribing, implanting, managing and programming all types of implanted cardiac rhythm devices including defibrillators, pacemakers, and biventricular devices for patients with congestive heart failure.
