ED Leader
The ED Leader is an experienced emergency nurse. The role of the ED Leader is maintaining department throughput and the well-being of all people in the emergency department, including patients, staff and visitors.
Provider
Doctor (MD or DO), Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (APRN), Physician’s Assistant (PA), Medical Resident
- Performs medical assessments, places orders for interventions and medications
- Performs procedures for patients
- Directs plan of care
Registered Nurse
- Performs nursing assessments and care
- Administers medications
- Carries out provider orders and nursing procedures
Licensed Practical Nurse
- Administers medications and care under the direction of the RN
- Carries out provider orders and nursing procedures under the direction of the RN
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADL) needs such as toileting and nutrition
- Prepare and reset patient care treatment areas
Emergency Department Technician
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Professional Nurse Assistant (PNA)
- Perform procedures and comfort measures under the direction of the RN
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADL) needs such as toileting and nutrition
- Prepare and reset patient care treatment areas
Unit Secretary
- Provide administrative support
- Greet and direct visitors
- Explain relevant hospital policies to visitors
- Visitor restriction policy
- Assist with patient care needs as appropriate
- Notify nurse or technician of patient requests
