Mercy Medical Center's Transition to Baystate Health

What’s Happening

Baystate Health and Trinity Health Of New England have signed a Definitive Agreement to transition Mercy Medical Center, its joint venture affiliates and medical group entities in Massachusetts to Baystate Health, pending regulatory approvals.

Until the transition is complete, Mercy Medical Center and Baystate Health will continue to operate independently. Both organizations are confident in the path ahead and committed to maintaining high quality care throughout the process.

After the transition, Baystate Health will continue Mercy’s nonprofit mission, strong community commitment and longstanding legacy of excellent care.

What This Means for Your Care

There is no immediate impact on the services you receive at Mercy Medical Center and its affiliate locations.

  • Your doctors and care teams remain unchanged.
  • Your appointments, locations and services continue as they are today.
  • Your insurance and billing processes stay the same.

Integrating Mercy into Baystate Health strengthens our ability to meet the evolving health needs of western Massachusetts.

Why This Transition Is Happening

Like others in our industry, Mercy is facing the same challenges and financial pressures caused by shifts in the health industry, including lower reimbursement and consumer trends to outpatient care. By integrating Mercy into Baystate Health we are able to work together to meet the continued health needs of our community.
