Heart Rhythm Program

The expert team at Trinity Health Of New England includes electrophysiologists (heart rhythm doctors) and Advanced Practice Providers trained to diagnose and treat arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythms) with the most innovative technology available. Early detection of arrhythmias reduces the risk of stroke or heart failure and will help keep patients out of the hospital.

Trinity Health Of New England offers unsurpassed experience and performs some of the highest volumes of electrophysiology studies and cardiovascular procedures in Connecticut. This gives us extensive knowledge in the evaluation and diagnosis of heart rhythm disorders. We are the only institution in the region with the Stereotaxis system, which allows providers to perform robotically-assisted procedures with unprecedented accuracy and safety. With access to the most advanced technology, including state-of-the-art three-dimensional cardiac mapping systems and intracardiac ultrasound imaging, our providers deliver the most effective treatments available.

Mercy Medical Center brought one of the first cardiac electrophysiology labs to western Massachusetts and was the first in the region to offer leadless pacemaker implantation. Saint Mary’s Hospital was the first electrophysiology lab in Waterbury and is the only hospital in Waterbury offering atrial fibrillation ablations.

Our Centers

If you are one of the millions living with atrial fibrillation (AFib), our team of cardiology specialists are here to help you. AFib is the most common type of heart arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat). AFib occurs when the heart’s upper chambers beat out of sync with the lower chambers. AFib can disrupt your daily living, and if left untreated can lead to heart failure or stroke.

The Atrial Fibrillation Center is a disease management program dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation. With a multidisciplinary approach, the team will develop a treatment plan ranging from antiarrhythmic medication therapy and advanced ablation techniques to lifestyle modification. Collaboration between electrophysiology specialists, cardiologists and primary care providers ensures excellent and effective treatments for atrial fibrillation.

The term arrythmia refers to an irregular heartbeat that can be fast, or slow. There are many types of arrythmias that our expert team of cardiology specialists (including electrophysiologists) can help diagnose and treat.

The Heart Rhythm Center provides comprehensive treatment for heart rhythm disorders (arrythmias), including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), ventricular tachycardia, conduction disorders, and other rhythm disorders. See Managing Heart Rhythm Disorders
