Saint Mary’s Hospital is a Catholic, not-for-profit, acute care, community teaching hospital that has served Greater Waterbury since 1909. In 2016, Saint Mary’s Hospital became part of Trinity Health Of New England, an integrated health care delivery system that is a member of Trinity Health, Livonia, Michigan, one of the largest multi-institutional Catholic health care delivery systems in the nation serving communities in 22 states. Licensed for 347 beds, Saint Mary’s is designated as a Level II Trauma Center, offers award-winning cardiac and stroke care and houses the region’s only pediatric emergency care unit. As the leading provider of surgical services in Greater Waterbury, Saint Mary’s was the first to introduce the daVinci® Robotic Surgery System. The hospital’s satellites and affiliates extend from Waterbury to Wolcott, Cheshire, Naugatuck, Southbury, Prospect and Watertown.

    • Open café conveniently located in the main lobby.
    • Menu includes hot and cold coffee drinks, tea, smoothies, yogurt parfaits and fresh baked goods.
    • Monday - Friday: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m..
       
  • Saint Mary’s Cafeteria
    • The Cafeteria is located on the basement level of the O’Brien Building
    • Menu includes prepared salads, grilled items, “Grab and Go” sandwiches and salads, hot soups, pizza, an assortment of snacks and desserts, and cold drinks, hot coffee, and tea
    • Open 7 days a week: 6:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. (Weekends and Holidays the Cafeteria is closed from 1:30 - 4:30 PM)
       
  • SUBWAY® Restaurant
    • Located on the basement floor of the O’Brien building
    • Serves all of your favorite sandwiches, wraps, salads, hot soups, and cookies. 
    • Monday - Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
    • Weekends: 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Spiritual Services

Spiritual Services
Saint Mary’s Chapel welcomes all who seek a peaceful, quiet space for prayer or reflection. The beautiful chapel is adjacent to the hospital’s main lobby and is open daily. Mass times are as follows: 

  • Daily Mass at 11:45 a.m. (Except for Saturday)
  • Saturday Vigil Mass at 4 PM
  • Mass is televised daily to patient rooms on Channel 69
  • Comforting meditation music and scripture readings are also available to patients on Channel 69.
     

Pastoral Care
Our Pastoral Care team cares for each patient as a whole person; body, mind and spirit. Our interfaith team cares for patients of all religious traditions or no tradition at all. They are here to help you in whatever way they can.

Congregational leaders of churches, synagogues, mosques and temples are encouraged to visit their congregants. If you would like a member of our Pastoral Care team to contact your clergy person, please ask! 

Throughout your hospital stay members of your Pastoral Care team will always be available to offer the following compassionate services:

  • Personalized prayers
  • Catholic sacraments (Communion or the Sacrament of the Sick)
  • Assistance working through fears or spiritual concerns
  • End of life support
