About
In practice for seven years, Dr. Gupta previously worked at SUNY Stony Brook University in Long Island where he focused on coronary, valve repair and aortic surgery. He was the director of the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) program for acute pulmonary and heart failure and also co-director of the University Valve Center, helping to found and direct transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and mitraclip programs. Additionally, Dr. Gupta served as director of the surgical atrial fibrillation program at Stony Brook.
Dr. Gupta earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, Vermont. He completed his residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, where he also completed the Allogen Laboratories Research Fellowship in the departments of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Transplantation.
In addition to receiving several research grants, Dr. Gupta received the Cleveland Clinic Innovator award for mitral valve instrumentation.
Dr. Gupta is board certified in both surgery and thoracic surgery. He is a member of the American Heart Association, American Board of Thoracic Surgery, Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
