Dr. Alberto J. Rodriguez has been in private practice in the Greater Hartford area since 1987 and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice since 1983. His academic appointments include Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine since 1984; Senior Attending Staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center Department of Medicine since 1985; Assistant Professor of Yale University Family Nurse Practitioner Program in 1991 and 1992; Faculty Member for the Obstetrics Residency Program at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center from 2001 to 2005; Community Faculty in Family Medicine at the University of Connecticut since 1987; Assistant Clinical Instructor for Yale University Medical School Physician Assistant Program since 1983, and has served as a Member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine from 1981 to 1987.

Dr. Rodriguez was recognized as a Preceptor of the Year Award recipient by the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 1995-1996, in recognition of excellence in medical student education. He was also the recipient of The Leonard Tow 2003 Humanism in Medicine Award, in recognition of exemplary compassion, competence and respect in the delivery of scientific clinical care and outstanding Faculty Role Model by the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in June 2003. Dr. Rodriguez was recognized and presented the Humanitarian Award by the Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians in 2005.

Dr. Rodriguez has served as Director, Board Member, Secretary, President Elect, President, Immediate Past President and Past President at Large from 1991 to 2001 at the Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians, as well as a Member of the Executive and Editorial Board of the Core Content Review of Family Medicine from 1995 to 2000. Dr. Rodriguez has served as a Community Preceptor for Primary Care Clerkship for the University of Connecticut Medical Students since 1987 to present.
