HARTFORD, Conn. - CARF International has announced that Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, the largest provider of acute inpatient rehabilitation services in Connecticut, has been accredited for a period of three years for Brain Injury Specialty, Stroke Specialty, and Adult and Adolescent Rehabilitation Inpatient programs. The latest accreditation is the second Three-Year Accreditation that Mount Sinai has received from CARF for Adult and Adolescent Rehabilitation Inpatient and Stroke Specialty Rehabilitation programs, and the first accreditation for the Brain Injury Rehabilitation program.

CARF accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be achieved by a rehabilitation organization and recognizes Mount Sinai’s substantial conformance to CARF standards. In order to receive a Three-Year Accreditation, Mount Sinai completed a rigorous peer review process and on-site review by surveyors that demonstrated a commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality.

“We are incredibly proud of receiving our second consecutive accreditation, especially with the addition of our Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program,” said Steve Kunsman, PT, Executive Director, Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital. “Being recognized for our ability to provide a caring, skilled, multi-disciplined approach to each patient’s individual needs is a testament to our commitment to serving our patients with compassion, enthusiasm, and professionalism.”

“Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital is the gold standard in Connecticut in providing acute rehabilitation services, and we are so proud of this achievement,” said Thomas Burke, BPharm, MBA, President, Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital. “The hard work done by our physicians, nurses, therapists, clinical and non-clinical teams positions Mount Sinai among the best of the best. Earning CARF accreditation proves our commitment to serving as a leader in providing high-quality, award-winning, comprehensive care.”
