Internship Opportunities
The Community Health and Well Being Department serves as a bridge between the hospital system and the community to support resident wellbeing; to improve overall community health and to create equitable opportunities for all. The department has staff located in Hartford, Waterbury and Springfield.
The Community Health and Well Being Internship is open to recent graduate or current graduate students working towards a master's degree in public health, Healthcare Administration, Management or other related degree(s). This unpaid internship will last between 8-12 weeks and offers valuable experience in public health and community engagement.
The Goal of Supporting Interns is Twofold:

To provide a meaningful experience that highlights the importance of health equity.

To support department activities by assigning interns tasks that increase the effectiveness of department activities.
Interns are assigned a mentor to monitor their experience and will serve to support, assist, contribute and collaborate on activities in the following categories: health equity initiatives, community outreach and engagement, administrative operations, and marketing.

Health Equity Initiatives:

Child and Adult Sexual Abuse and Assault

Healthcare for the Homeless

Transforming Communities Initiative: Well Being 360

Community Outreach and Engagement:

Develop and support community outreach activities
-
Expand partnerships with community organizations
-
Support quarterly community engagement meetings

Administrative Operations:
-
Define outcome measures
-
Develop processes for reporting requirements
-
Organize data processes and structures
-

Marketing:
-
Develop approaches to improve awareness within the hospital of the department’s activities

Organize stories and materials for external marketing

Expand social media presence
