The Saint Francis Trauma Department held a community safety fair and backpack giveaway earlier this month at Joseph V. Cronin Park in Hartford. Due to substantial donations by Saint Francis trauma surgeons, including Drs. Corrine Miller, Stephanie Montgomery, Sarah Posillico, Chasen Greig, and Andrew Doben, and Woodland Anesthesia, the team was able to give away 200 backpacks filled with school supplies to local community members.

The Trauma Team gave away 200 backpacks filled with school supplies, along with safety kits, STOP THE BLEED kits, and other items to local community members.

In addition to the backpacks, 300 pairs of Bombas socks were donated by Rehabilitation Services, while 200 STOP THE BLEED kits and 300 safety kits were donated by the Trauma Department. The team filled drawstring bags with supplies such as safety whistles, bike lights, pedometers, and toiletries.

Along with the trauma team, Cardiology, the Men’s Health Institute, Primary Care, and Weight Management were on hand, as well as the Lung Cancer Screening Program and car seat safety education team. Representatives from the Hartford Fire and Police Departments also attended, giving attendees time to interact with a fire truck and police cruiser. The trauma team lined up food vendors, including Brazilian Gula Grill food truck, ice cream, cotton candy, and popcorn.
