April 21, 2025Categories: Colleague Corner
Earlier this month, colleagues at Mercy Medical Center’s Family Life Center participated in the Syrup Stampede fundraiser to help support Empty Arms Bereavement Support.
Colleagues from Mercy's Family Life Center, along with their family members, at the Syrup Stampede.
Empty Arms Bereavement Support serves individuals and families in Massachusetts and nationwide who have suffered loss due to miscarriage, stillbirth, early infant death, or termination for medical reasons. The organization offers support groups, individual connection, time of loss support, and online resources to help parents, family, and friends through their loss.
The Syrup Stampede is a 5k race and 2k fun run/walk and pancake breakfast to benefit Empty Arms Bereavement Support. The Family Life Center team helped raise funds through participation and donations.
“Participating in the Syrup Stampede allowed us to connect with bereaved families and those who support them,” said Yazmilie Gomez, MSN, RN, Mercy Family Life Center. “Through fundraising we were also able to bring awareness to an area in our field that is not discussed enough. Empty Arms Bereavement Support is such a great resource to have for the people in our community, and being able to participate and support them alongside our families meant a lot to our team.”
