“Mission in Motion” is the theme of our latest Mission video series. The latest installment features Melissa and her team at the Joan C. Dauber Food Pantry at Saint Francis Hospital. Their work embodies our Core Value of Reverence – honoring the sacredness and dignity of every person.

Melissa Crawford, manager of the Joan C. Dauber Food Pantry, works with volunteers to ensure shelves and freezers are stocked.

“You plant the seed that says, ‘You may be here today, but tomorrow - who knows? Your life can change.’ So, you give hope. And I believe hope is everlasting,” says Melissa, manager of the Joan C. Dauber Food Pantry.

Spearheaded by the Mission Integration leaders from Trinity Health Of New England, the video project is intended to shine a light on colleagues as they reflect on their call to work and minister at Trinity Health. Throughout the series dubbed Catholic Health Care for a Reason, colleagues from varied disciplines are featured sharing their unique backstory of what drives them to serve. The video series, which launched in January of 2024, will continue to roll videos throughout the year via email and is available on our website.

After watching the video, colleagues are encouraged to provide reactions or share their own story behind what calls them to be part of a Catholic health care organization. Colleagues may use the comment field located under the video player on the series homepage.

We are deeply grateful for the life and legacy of Joan C. Dauber, who passed away recently. In 1976, Joan founded the first hospital-based food pantry – an act of compassion and vision that continues to nourish lives nearly five decades later. Her pioneering spirit lives on through the work of the pantry that bears her name, and her dedication will continue to guide and inspire us for generations to come.
