How should I prepare for my ultrasound?

  • Always bring a copy of your insurance card and a photo I.D. to your appointment.
  • You may be asked to fast depending on the exam.
  • On the day of your exam, an ultrasound technologist may ask you to remove clothing or other objects that may interfere with the procedure. If you are asked to remove clothing, you will be given a gown to wear.

What should I expect during my exam?

  • A technologist will position you on an exam table and apply a clear gel to the area being examined.
  • The technologist will firmly press the transducer against the skin and move it back and forth in the area of interest.
  • Most ultrasounds are painless though you may experience slight discomfort from a cold gel or pressure in an already painful location.

When do I get my test results?

Our staff is happy to answer any questions you may have regarding following up with your physician to obtain your ultrasound results.

Although we cannot give you immediate results, some providers will arrange for you to come directly to their office after your scan. Please contact your physician’s office to discuss your results as your doctor is your greatest advocate!
